Volodymyr "Champion" Radionov is a fan of the "Zorya" football club (Luhansk), a representative of the "East'23" team.
Volodymyr Radionov was born on November 7, 1988 in Luhansk. His relatives recall that he knew and understood from a young age that his homeland was Ukraine. When he was a child, his mother took him from Luhansk to Prykolotne, Kharkiv region, where his grandmother presented her grandson with handmade embroidered shirts, which he wore on morning performances in a kindergarten. After school, the young man entered Luhansk Agrarian University. In the first year, he became an active fan of FC "Zorya". He traveled all over the country with his friends, and once asked his mother: - "Why do people go abroad? We have a such beautiful country!".
With the beginning of the revolutionary events in Kyiv, Volodymyr was going to participate in the Maidan, but his parents did not let him go. Soon it became restless in Luhansk. He and his friends patrolled the streets of the city at night. They failed to defend Luhansk, and then he and four other teammates began to pack their bags to leave the city. He called home to reassure his parents, saying that he went to Kyiv, worked at a construction site, and then got a job at a gas station. In fact, Luhansk fans went to Mariupol, where they were among the first to join the ranks of the Azov battalion.
"Champion" was an ordinary soldier in "Azov" for a short time, then quickly became the commander of a platoon and deputy company commander in charge of equipment. At the stage of preparation for the Pavlopil-Shyrokyne operation, he rejected the offer of his senior comrades to become an APC commander, opting for an armored vehicle "Spartan". Volodymyr was using it in battles, covering the offensive, delivering food and ammunition, and evacuating the wounded under fire.
The last time Volodymyr Radionov got in the driver's seat of his "Spartan" was on February 14, 2015. That day, the enemy, pulled up forces from Debaltseve to Shyrokyne and launched a counterattack. "Champion" and his comrade evacuated the wounded from the first line of defense, which was closely attacked by the enemy. While performing the task, the armored vehicle was hit by an enemy tank. Having received numerous fragmentary wounds incompatible with life, the courageous fan died on the spot.
The "Champion" was buried in Prykolotne, where he spent holidays with his grandmother, near the graves of his relatives. By the Decree of the President of Ukraine on May 15, 2015, he was awarded the Medal "For Courage", III degree (posthumously). In August 2018, a nationalist hub was opened in Kharkiv and a gym was devoted to the memory of Volodymyr Radionov. There is also a memorial place for the fallen warrior in the museum of Prykolotnyanska secondary school.
