Taras "Sykhivskyi" Berezyuk is a fan of the "Karpaty" football club (Lviv), a representative of the "Pride" team.
Taras Zenoviovych Berezyuk was born on January 3, 1988 in the city of Lviv. He studied at school No. 1 in Lviv, after which he obtained a higher education at the Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko. In his teenage years, he joined the fan movement of the Lviv "Karpat" team, and later joined the "Pride" team, which for a long time remained the leading football association in the west of the country. Relatives recall that Taras had a strong character from an early age and was not afraid to fight for Ukraine. Never could "give back". In any matter he undertook, he stood to the end. He was smart, brave and a great fighter for justice and honesty. This is what people valued him for.
Despite the fact that the Lviv man chose teaching as his life's work, he never left his native football club. Being known on the podium as "Kotsiuba" and "Sykhivskyi", he chose the latter as his main nickname, because he lived in the Lviv neighborhood of Sykhiv, which he loved very much. Later, teammates will say that as soon as he appeared, it seemed like the sun was shining. Casual stories about little-known pages of history, first of all - the liberation struggle, were immediately imprinted in the memory of both the young generation and fans of the old school. Took an active part in the Revolution of Dignity. With the beginning of the war in 2014, he was mobilized into the 24th separate mechanized brigade, served in the 2nd self-propelled artillery division, participated in the battles for Lyman, Lysychansk, Severodrnetsk and Luhansk.
In 2015, he was demobilized and returned to work. As a teacher of history and sociology, head of the economic and technological department at the Lviv Vocational College of Food and Processing Industry of the National University of Food Technologies, he was respected by students and teaching staff. Could explain any topic simply and clearly. He instilled in students a sense of self-respect and taught them to be proud of their country. I dreamed of building a new, better Ukraine, where there would be no corruption and bribery, where every person would feel protected by the law. On February 24, when the great war began and there were already the first arrivals of rockets in the Lviv region, he calmed down the frightened children. He himself was collected and concentrated.
On the same day, "Sykhivskyi" went to his native village, said goodbye to his mother, and went to the Military Commissariat. As an educator, he had armor from conscription, but he could not do otherwise. Taras's brother will tell journalists that he always told him that it would not be a pity to die for Ukraine. Having found himself at war with the Russian invaders for the second time in his life, he joined the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo.
Taras Berezyuk died on August 24, 2022 as a result of enemy rocket fire. On that tragic day, the brave man from Lviv had the opportunity to go on his official business earlier (perhaps saving his life in this way), but he did not want to leave his brothers, deciding to stay with them until the end. Together with them, he lay down. Thus, on the day of the biggest national holiday, the life of a bright representative of the patriotic elite of Ukraine, an educator and a fighter for the free future of our Motherland was cut short.
