Ruslan "Oblomov" Kurulyak is a fan of football clubs "Dynamo" (Kyiv) and "Polyssia" (Zhytomyr).
Ruslan Gennadiyovych Kurulyak was born on October 30, 1989 in the city of Zhytomyr. He spent his school years in the classes of the local Lyceum No. 19. As a child, he was fond of football and athletics. From a young age, he had patriotic views and strong convictions, which he was ready to defend in case of need. In the mid-2000s, he actively participated in events organized by the patriotic youth of Zhytomyr.
From the age of 18, Ruslan took part in organizing and holding patriotic events in Zhytomyr. Together with like-minded people, they held marches in memory of Stepan Bandera, a march within the framework of the all-Ukrainian campaign "To Pavlychenkam!" and other.
Ruslan's fan life began in his hometown when he was 22 years old. In 2011-12, Zhytomyr's fan movement was at the stage of recovery after decline. The patriotic environment of the city insisted that the local authorities fully restore the football club to life, after which active fans began to rally around the support of "Polyssia". He was a representative of the "White ZT Family" team since its foundation in 2013.
In those years, residents of Zhytomyr communicated with fans of the capital "Dynamo", with whom they occasionally attended away matches. Therefore, when Ruslan later moved to Kyiv, the issue of choosing a football club was already resolved. While still living in Zhytomyr, he was friends with representatives of the Berserkers team, and in early 2014, the capital team invited Ruslan to join them. Together with the Berserkers, he went to training sessions, visited away matches and the home stand after the division of the sectors into two blocks, and also helped develop the surrounding football team.
Friends remember Ruslan for trips to the cup game against "Shakhtar" in Poltava, when there was a joint march of fans of different clubs. No less memorable was the trip to Kharkiv on the "left wing", when clashes between fans and pro-Russian separatists took place in the city. There was a lot of fun that day, with shooting nails, a fight with barricades and pyrotechnics.
With the beginning of the revolutionary events of 2014, Ruslan, as an active participant in the fanatical movement and just a conscious citizen, took part in the opposition to the then criminal authorities. He was the commander of the Right Sector in the Zhytomyr Region, participated in the storming of the local State Administration on February 19, 2014.
In April 2014, he went to the front as a volunteer, defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the ranks of "Azov". In the summer of the same year, he and his wife had a daughter, Anastasia. He participated in battles in the East, during which he repeatedly received contusions. Later, he became an instructor and trained new recruits. After the rotation, he returned to civilian life, worked in a security firm. For some time he lived and worked abroad. At work, he met his future comrades from Belarus, with whom he would later defend Ukraine.
With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, "Oblomov" returned home to voluntarily take up arms. As part of the DFTG, he participated in the defense of the capital. Later, taking into account the considerable experience of the war in the East, he went to advanced positions. He joined the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Military Intelligence Service and served in the Belarusian Volunteer Corps.
Ruslan Kurulyak died on January 24, 2023 in a battle with the enemy in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region. While performing a combat mission in the enemy rear, the life of a 33-year-old scout was cut short by a sniper's bullet. This was the first operation using boats, when the Ukrainian military landed on an occupied and mined enemy coast.
