Roman "Sedoy" Kuzin is a fan of the Shakhtar football club (Donetsk), a representative of the "City Guard Donetsk" team.
Roman Sergeyevich Kuzin was born on September 2, 1980 in the city of Donetsk. He studied at the local school No. 145, and after the 9th grade he continued his studies at the Donetsk Polytechnic College, majoring in mechanical engineering. After completing his studies, he went to work at the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant, simultaneously obtaining a second degree at the Donetsk Institute of Market and Social Policy. Since childhood, he loved football very much, and his father brought him to the Shakhtar match for the first time. Watching the game of his favorite team, the young man often looked at the fan stand, which beckoned him from the very beginning.
At the age of 14, Roman came to the sector for the first time and until the end remained a loyal fan of the club, who supported him at home and away matches. He was a witness and an active participant in the heyday of football in the country, with its large-scale street battles and other attributes that later remained only in stories among contemporaries. He came up with the design himself and made a banner, and then a tattoo of the fan movement.
In 2014, Donetsk quickly came under pressure from pro-Russian collaborators. Like most active Shakhtar fans, Roman went to pro-Ukrainian rallies and together with his friends tried to resist the ever-increasing influence of pro-Russian sentiments, which his hometown was quickly sinking into. But then the forces were not equal, at the beginning of 2015 the Kuzin family left their home and moved to Kharkiv.
In the same year, Roman took up arms, joining the ranks of the 54th OMBr of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the battles in Popasnaya and Svitlodarsk arc. In March 2020, he became a fighter in the "Azov" regiment, where he had many friends from the fan environment, and took the call sign "Hughes". He was a sniper-grenadier of the 1st anti-tank fire support platoon of the 3rd company of the operational assignment of the 1st battalion of military unit 3057 with the rank of sergeant. During his years of service, he had awards and state honors, including: "For participation in an anti-terrorist operation", "Cross of the 54th OMBR" and others.
In the team, Roman was friendly and always calm, he supported his younger brothers. Yuliya's wife recalls that patience and prudence were strong traits of her husband's character, with whom it was impossible to argue. He loved and pampered their daughter very much, allowed everything and called her a princess. They had their own world. Understanding the inevitability of a great war, he also calmly explained to his wife the need to make foreign passports and keep a suitcase with documents and everything necessary at the ready. He said that he would suddenly have to leave.
When the full-scale invasion did begin, I contacted my relatives once every 3-4 days. He said that there are a lot of invaders, but the defenders of Mariupol are repelling enemy attacks. The last time he called was on March 14, just to say that everything was fine with him and that he and his family would be able to see each other soon. Roman Kuzin died on March 22, 2023 while performing a combat mission. Awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree (posthumously).
