Roman "Bich" Romanenko is a fan of the football club "Dnipro", a representative of the team "Perspectiva 14".
Roman Romanenko was born on January 21, 1994, in Dnipro. He was an excellent student at school and continued his studies on a budget in one of the best universities in the city - DNU named after Gonchar, in the specialty "marketing". At the age of 16, he got into the fan sector of Dnipro, for which he traveled to many cities in Ukraine. He always tried to be versatile, in addition to studying at the university, he paid attention to sports - boxing, running, and CrossFit. He joined the team "Perspectiva 14", which became the next generation of the well-known "MiD". He loved traveling and was fond of photography.
With the beginning of the Revolution of Dignity, like many Dnipro fans, he did not hesitate to go to Kyiv. He took part in the most significant events of Maidan - on Hrushevskoho Street, as well as in the last days of the revolution. After returning to his hometown he was one of those who defended the regional council from separatists. Along with many friends from the fan stands, Roman sought to join the Ukrainian army as soon as possible. In the fall of 2015, he transferred to distance learning and joined the ranks of the then "Azov" battalion.
Roman served as a sniper In "Azov". He showed high professionalism, was constantly trained and improved himself. Due to his perseverance, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and became the commander of a sniper unit. From 2017 to 2018, he constantly performed combat missions along the entire front line - Vodiane, Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, Maryinka, Avdiivka, and Katerynivka. In March 2019, he was one of those who saved the life of a seriously wounded sniper group commander at the Svitlodarsk bulge. In April of the same year, he received the rank of junior lieutenant.
His comrades loved and respected Roman, who was the soul of any company. Later, they would recall that he was endowed with the best human qualities and was a real example for all his friends and the people around him. Roman Romanenko died on August 10, 2019, at the same Svitlodarsk bulge where he saved the life of his comrade six months before. Being in a reconnaissance group, which was tracking the enemy's movements, he exploded on an enemy mine and died as a result of shrapnel wounds. Immediately after the explosion, the group was fired upon with all types of weapons, and because of that, the "Azov" did not manage to immediately take Roman's body. They managed to do it only three days later.
On August 14, 2019, the warrior was buried at Chaplynske cemetery in Dnipro. "Redis" - the commander of the "Azov" regiment, remembering Roman, said: "A decent man, a combat officer, an experienced warrior who was able to make informed decisions on the battlefield died". By the Decree of the President of Ukraine on August 23, 2019, he was awarded the Medal "For Courage", III degree (posthumously). "Bich" was nominated for this order during his lifetime, after confirmation of one of the successful combat operations. Unfortunately, the award was already received by Roman's mother, for whom he was an only child.
Being fond of photography and constantly improving his talent, he left behind many unsurpassed works - real chronicles of the war. After Roman's death, an exhibition of his photos taken during combat missions was held in his native Dnipro, in the ATO Museum.
