Oleksiy "Indian" Yanin is a fan of the "Metallurg" football club (Zaporizhzhia) and a representative of the "Rude Boys" team.
Oleksiy Yanin was born on October 5, 1983, in the city of Zaporizhzhia. Being a representative of the first wave of Zaporizhzhia football (the beginning of the noughties), Oleksiy witnessed very interesting times in the country, which are now discussed by fans of different clubs. We are talking about the formation of the ultras culture in the domestic stands, where "Indian" took an active part. He was the one who personally declared war on the fans of "Shakhtar" (Donetsk) and " Tavriya" (Simferopol), with whom "Metalurh" supporters later had quite interesting relations. Thanks to Oleksiy's charisma, he quickly gained popularity not only among the fans of his home club. He travelled all over the country and participated in large-scale football events of the noughties.
In addition to a bright and adventurous life as a fan, Oleksiy was able to realize his potential in sports. More than once pointing out the fact that he started training in adulthood, he won medals and cups in several domestic and international competitions. Champion of Ukraine in kickboxing. World champion in Thai boxing (Muay Thai) - this is the list of the most significant awards that "Indian" has won.
The head of the sports club "Scorpion" Serhiy Riabukhin, who saw the beginning of Oleksiy's rise to the sports peaks, recalls: "Honestly, people do not start mastering professional sports at this age. Of course, a person is already physically and mentally formed. It was not easy for him, it was not that Oleksiy showed up and became a world-class athlete straight away. He had a difficult path, he is a stubborn, persistent guy with a strong personality. And it probably took him three or four years to show results," he says.
By the turn of 2010, he had been living in Kyiv for several years. But "Indian" was not bored there, constantly participating in local martial arts competitions. He never forgot his around-football passion. He joined one of the well-known local teams.
In 2014, when russia occupied Crimea and unleashed war in Donbas, Oleksiy voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksiy was immediately sent to Mariupol and he stayed there for a year, after which he came back home for a while. Shortly after returning from the military service, he continued to defend his Motherland in the ranks of the separate detachment of Special Forces "Azov", and continued his military service in Mariupol.
Oleksiy Yanin's wife, Tamara, said that after the birth of their son Nazariy, her husband stayed with the family for a year and 4 months. Then he returned to the military service and met the invaders in eastern Ukraine. "It was very hard for him not to be at war at the time when his guys were holding back russian aggression. He wanted to fight, he wanted to avenge the death of his comrades. The last time we talked to him was when he was still wounded but already on crutches. It was about the 20th of March. He said that it was hell, that people were dying there and it was better for us being in the rear to never see what was happening there," she said.
According to the official sources, Oleksiy Yanin left us on April 7, defending Mariupol, but the Ministry officially announced it on May 24.
It is only now that I realize it as I was not able at the time. He wrote to me around the third of April: "I am trying to survive. All I want is to stay alive and come back to you". Now I realize that he already knew that he would not get out of Mariupol alive. Probably, he just did not want me to know.
That is what his wife tells journalists.
