Oleksandr "Hryan" Hryanyk is a fan of the "Dynamo" football club (Kyiv), a representative of the "White Boys Club" movement.
Oleksandr Serhiyovych Hryanyk was born on January 8, 1994 in Kyiv. He studied at the Capital School No. 298, after which he studied at the Faculty of International Economics and Management of the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics, which he graduated in 2014. Thanks to his father, football appeared in the life of little Sasha at an early age. Serhiy Oleksandrovich wanted to make his son a player at a more or less serious level, and every evening after work he took him to the clay fields of Obolon "Chaika", where they ran until dark. The boy adored football and during the holidays he disappeared from the very morning on the playgrounds of his native district.
Oleksandr started going to matches of the championship and European cups with the participation of "Dynamo" Kyiv as a child. At the age of 13, he found himself on the away side for the first time, but not on the Dynamo side. The father, who himself comes from Luhansk region, took his son to visit his grandmother, and on one of his days off, "Dnipro" came to Luhansk. The teenager persuaded his father to go to this game and even asked to go to the away sector. Then he said that the people of Dnipro thanked the boy who came to support their club in a Kyiv T-shirt, even though he immediately admitted that he was visiting his grandmother, and from there the distance to the stadium is only 35 km. A little later, the time came for independent trips and participation in the football-related life of the club. At home, a mouth guard and bandages were quickly noticed, but being modest, Oleksandr did not tell any details.
When the Revolution of Dignity began, the Kyivan became an active participant from the very beginning, he was on the Maidan during all the main events of those days. He was particularly affected by the news about the murder of the Belarusian Mykhailo Zhiznevskyi. With the beginning of Russian aggression in the East, he repeatedly intended to go to the front, but his family and friends persuaded him to finish his studies first. Relatives recall that the young man often chastised himself for not going to fight in 2014, along with many acquaintances from the fan community. During the next two years, he underwent military training, and in 2016, he passed the KMB and joined the "Azov" regiment.
For the next 6 years, "Gryan" served in Urzuf near Mariupol. He was a senior machine gunner on the front line, but he told his family and friends very little. Sister Anastasia recalls that she knew nothing about her brother serving in "Azov" and no other details. According to her, he constantly reassured the family and did not want to traumatize with details. She often told him that he should leave the service and find time to live for himself. And Oleksandr had big plans for civilian life. Being terribly fond of mountains, he repeatedly went to the peaks in Ukraine and abroad. Once he even went to an acquaintance in Mexico, and there, not knowing the local language, he hitchhiked into the jungle. Conquered a height of 5100 meters, reaching an active volcano. There he shot a video in the colors of the capital club. He dreamed of climbing Everest.
Oleksandr decided to resign from "Azov" at the end of January 2022. Not renewing the contract, he went to the Carpathians for three weeks to think about the future. After working in the "Azov" press service, for which he shot photos and videos, he had many impressions and ideas, he wanted to write a book. But the period of rest was short-lived. On February 24, the Russians launched a full-scale invasion. Without any hesitation, Oleksandr Buz packed his backpack and said goodbye to his parents, already knowing what he was going to do. He tried to contact his former commander, but when he did not receive an answer, he joined one of the capital's ТРО, where at that time many people from fanatical sectors had gathered. The defense of the capital continued, "Gryan" took part in heavy battles in Buch, Irpen and Gostomel. He did not tell his sister and parents about the real state of affairs.
Taking part in repelling the enemy attack on the capital, he always wanted to join his brothers in Mariupol. So when there was an opportunity to fly with rotorcraft to the occupied city, one of the volunteers immediately responded. "Gryan" flew one of the rotorcraft, which managed to get into the surrounded Mariupol. Breaking into the city, he lost his best friend almost immediately, and was soon wounded. Due to the lack of medicines and clean water, the wounds began to rot, but the courageous Warrior refused a possible evacuation, giving his chance for salvation to a civilian. Oleksandr Hryanyk called his family for the last time on May 7, telling everyone that he loved him. The next day, he died as a result of an enemy bomb hitting a bunker with city defenders. There were 8 days left before the withdrawal from Azovstal.
Oleksandr's parents found out about their son's death the very next day after seeing posts on the pages of his brothers from "Azov". During his life, he inspired many people to become better and kinder, and he continues to do so even now. In memory of his son, his father took over the relay of conquering mountain peaks. He twice climbed his favorite peaks of "Gryana" in Cyprus, and in his plans for the future - Hoverla, because his son was there too. Anastasia, in memory of her brother, wants to make a photo exhibition of his works in Kyiv. Family members will be reminded of the fallen defender of Ukraine by the souvenir ball on the occasion of "Dynamo" winning the championship title, for which Oleksandr once ran out of the sector onto the tracks of the capital's stadium.
