Yevhen "Novopskov" Kovalyov is a fan of football club "Zorya" (Luhansk).
Yevhen Oleksiyovych Kovalev was born on June 17, 1988 in Purpe (Russia). He spent his childhood in Novopskov, Luhansk region. He finished Novopskov gas pipeline school, and in 2005 he entered the Polytechnic College of Luhansk. Since 2006 he attended the fan sector of "Zorya", later became an active fan, and joined the ultras movement. He was always with the team whether it was home or away matches. In 2012 he married his beloved Olga.
Being a flaw detector specialist by profession, Yevhen went to work in Russia in 2010. Before the events in 2014, he, his wife, and his daughter lived in Sverdlovsk. But in the first days of russian military aggression in Crimea, Yevhen told his wife: - "No, we will not live here. It is impossible to live here, we must leave", and then he returned with his family to Novopskov. The occupation of the Luhansk region began. The man attended pro-Ukrainian rallies in Luhansk, even when he no longer lived in the city. He had an active civic position, and acutely experienced all the events that took place in the country.
During his life, "Novopskov" had to work in different countries and different areas: in gas, construction, and as a mechanical engineer at a utility company. However, for the last three years before the full-scale invasion, he had been working as a welder in the Czech Republic. He was a jack of all trades, no matter what he did - he completed everything, and worked skillfully, persistently, and wisely. At home he was a caring, reliable, and loving man, he took care of the family, loved his daughters, and appreciated the family. Together with his wife, they brought up children with patriotism and love for Ukraine. Although Yevhen spent a lot of time abroad, he dreamed of living at home, opening his own business, traveling the world, and seeing the ocean.
His wife recalls that Yevhen knew about the upcoming full-scale war in advance, and therefore thought about options for the family to go abroad. He resigned on the first day of the great war, and the next day he was already in Lviv. "I cannot sit abroad and watch what is happening on the news. Who else but me?" - that's how he told his wife about his decision. For several days he helped in the manufacture of anti-tank structures and then went to the military registration and enlistment office. In Lviv, "Novopskov" failed to join the army, because there were already enough applicants, so he went to Kyiv. Stopping in Vinnytsia, he went to the local military commissariat, and on March 6 took the oath. After a short period of training, he went to the Donetsk region.
Yevhen Kovalyov, a senior gunner of a grenade launcher platoon, died on April 20, 2022, during a mortar shelling near the village of Avdiivka, injured with fragments incompatible with life. That day, the last time he and his wife had talked on the phone a few hours before Yevhen's death and had arranged to call in the evening. But, unfortunately, this conversation was the last one. The warrior was buried in the city of Novohrad-Volynskyi. He is survived by his parents, wife, and two children 9 and 5 years old.
