Denys "Grek" Zubriychuk is a fan of the football club "Dynamo" (Kyiv), a representative of the "White Boys Club" movement.
Denys Vasyliovych Zubriychuk was born on December 30, 1995 in the village of Mala Khaicha (Zhytomyr Region). He studied at the Velikokhaychan secondary school and college, after which he entered the State Economic and Technological University of Transport. He was brave and adventurous from an early age. Relatives remember how in the 4th grade he and his friends pushed him out of the garage and started his parents' car and went for a drive around the village. When his parents asked where he learned to drive, he replied that he had just seen his father drive.
But his greatest passion was football. Parents remember that the young man dreamed of becoming a football player more than anything else. Played for local teams "Promin", "Granit" and others. At the age of 10, Denys was offered to continue his studies at the Dynamo sports school, but then his parents did not let their only son go to the capital.
The boy started cheering for the capital club very early. As a child, he argued all the time with his grandfather, who sympathized with Shakhtar Donetsk all his life. But the fascination with the game of Dynamo stars turned out to be stronger than the grandfather's attempts to convince his grandson. In 2011, Denys went to study in Kyiv, where he later began to visit the "white-blue" fan stand.
He graduated from the university in 2017, but did not have time to work in his specialty, because in the same year he joined the ranks of the State Border Service of Ukraine. In 2017-18, "Grek" defended Ukraine in Donbas as part of a border unit, after which he returned to the Zhytomyr border unit. During his service, he did not forget about football. He played in the team of the border detachment and the city of Ovruch.
On the day of the start of the full-scale invasion, Denys and his brothers were among the first to meet the enemy. The occupiers advanced on Kyiv from the Belarusian side through the Vilcha checkpoint. The border guards blew up the bridge, which made it possible to buy time and protect Kyiv from the North. After the capital was successfully defended, "Grek" was voluntarily called to the unit that was going to the East. His brothers remember that he wanted to be where it was most needed.
As part of the Donetsk border detachment, he performed combat missions in the Soledar industrial zone, where enemy positions were sometimes only hundreds of meters away. Denys Zubriychuk died on January 9, 2023. That morning, the occupiers attacked the defenders' positions, using the same uniform and ribbons of the same color as our military. During the battle, under heavy artillery fire, the "Greek" was seriously wounded. The comrades managed to pull him out of his position and start the evacuation with an armored car, during which Denys died.
We said goodbye to the brave Warrior in his native village in Zhytomyr Oblast.
